The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)

The R.C.I.A. is a process whereby adults become members of the Catholic Church and/or complete the requirements for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion, and Confirmation.  During this process participants embrace Catholic doctrine, prayer life,
and the expectations regarding life in the Catholic community.  This gradual development
culminates in the celebration of the sacraments of initiation:  Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion during the Easter Vigil Service.

Interested individuals are encouraged to attend initial inquiry sessions to learn what is involved and to discuss if pursuit of the Catholic faith is right for them.  No pressure is applied or commitment required at these initial meetings.

Small Faith-sharing Groups

St. Mary’s has opportunities each Fall and Winter/Spring for adults to become involved in small faith-sharing groups.  Some of these groups meet in homes and some meet at the
parish.  Topics vary and may include Scripture studies, such as an introduction to the Bible or the study of a particular book of the Bible.  In recent years these groups participated in the Arise program.  More recently, there has been a study on the Holy Spirit and how the Holy Spirit works in our lives.
